Kogi State University Lecturer Dies in Hotel Room After Alleged Encounter with Student

A senior lecturer at Kogi State University, Anyigba, Dr. Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle, has reportedly died under controversial circumstances after checking into a hotel with a 200-level female student.

Dr. Ibikunle, widely regarded by students as one of the institution’s strictest lecturers, was said to have lodged in the hotel three days ago with a female companion — a student of Social Studies Education, identified as an Ebira native.

According to multiple sources, the lecturer allegedly consumed multiple energy drinks prior to the encounter. While the first round reportedly went without incident, he is said to have collapsed as the second round was about to begin.

The female student, now in police custody, has reportedly told authorities that she is unsure what caused the lecturer’s death. However, law enforcement sources say foul play is being investigated, including the possibility of poisoning.

The incident has sparked widespread attention across social media platforms, with many students of the university sharing reactions, memes, and commentary referencing the lecturer’s reputation on campus.

As investigations continue, authorities are expected to conduct an autopsy to determine the actual cause of death.
