A High Court in Ilesa, Osun State, on Friday ordered the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) to conduct local government elections on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
In an enrollment order delivered by Justice A. Aderibigbe, the court mandated security agencies, including the Nigeria Police, Nigerian Army, Department of State Security Services (DSS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Amotekun Corps, and vigilante groups, to ensure security and maintain order before, during, and after the election.
The case was filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against OSSIEC and its chairman, Hashim Abioye.
