CEF Announces National Essay Competition on Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Development

The Champions Educational Foundation (CEF) has announced the call for entries for its 4th National Essay Competition, aimed at fostering creativity and writing skills among undergraduate students in Nigeria.

The competition, launched in 2021, is part of the foundation’s efforts to promote quality education and encourage meaningful engagement with contemporary issues such as Artificial Intelligence.

In a statement released and signed by Abdullahi Abdullateef, Deputy Director of Media and Publicity, the foundation highlighted the theme of this year’s competition as “Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development in Nigeria.”

According to Abdullateef, “This initiative is designed to inspire young Nigerians to explore the potential of AI in driving sustainable development while honing their storytelling and critical thinking abilities.”

The competition is open to all undergraduate students in tertiary institutions across Nigeria, with no age restrictions.

Participants must submit original essays, as entries that are plagiarized, previously published, or generated by AI will not be considered.

Submissions must not exceed 2,000 words and should be in PDF format, containing the writer’s name, institution, and contact details.

A total cash prize of ₦325,000 has been earmarked for the top three winners. “The overall winner will receive ₦150,000, the first runner-up ₦100,000, and the second runner-up ₦75,000,” the statement reads.

Additionally, the top 10 participants will be inducted into the CEF One-Year Fellowship Program to provide mentorship and career development opportunities.

The deadline for submission is 11:59 PM on January 20, 2025, and late submissions will not be entertained. Entries should be sent to info.globalcefn@gmail.com.
