President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday convened an emergency security meeting at the State House amid escalating violence and mass abductions in parts of the country, directing security agencies to act “with speed, precision, and absolute resolve.”
In a statement released on his verified Facebook page, the President said he is meeting with Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Services, and heads of intelligence agencies to review fresh security reports and stabilise affected communities.
“We are reviewing the latest reports and taking decisive actions to stabilise the affected areas and protect our citizens,” Tinubu said, adding that he is receiving continuous briefings from security commanders.
The President stressed that his administration remains fully committed to safeguarding lives and restoring public confidence in national security operations.
“As President, I am fully committed to the security of all Nigerians. Those who threaten the peace and security of our nation will face the full weight of the law,” he said.
Tinubu’s directive comes at a time of heightened public concern over renewed attacks targeting schools, rural communities, and worship centres across several states. Security agencies have faced growing pressure to curb mass kidnappings and banditry, particularly in northern regions.
Although the Presidency has not released details of the decisions taken during the meeting, Tinubu said security services have been ordered to move swiftly to contain threats and reinforce vulnerable areas.
“Nigeria will prevail,” he declared.
The high-level meeting is expected to shape immediate security deployments, with further updates anticipated from defence and security authorities in the coming days.
