Ar-Rashad Institute to Open Ultra-Modern Academic Complex January 2026

By S. Nabil Tanimola

Ar-Rashad Institute has announced plans to open a new ultra-modern academic complex in January 2026 as part of activities marking its 40 years of operation in Nigeria.

According to the founder, Sheikh Abdulganiy Sulaeman Tanimola, the grand opening and official commissioning of the facility will hold from Thursday, January 1 to Sunday, January 4, 2026, according to the management of the Lagos-based Islamic education institution.

The event, themed “The Divine Guidance, Our Achievements, and Our Hopes,” will focus on “Nurturing Enlightened Citizens: The Evolving Mission of Islamic Education in a Complex World.”

Founded in 1983 by Sheikh Abdulganiy Sulaeman Tanimola, Ar-Rashad Institute said the new complex is designed to strengthen its Integrated Tri-Pillar Foundation, which combines Arabic language studies, Islamic moral and spiritual sciences, and modern academic and vocational education.

The management said the new campus will house digital laboratories, vocational training centres, academic classrooms, Arabic libraries and prayer facilities, aimed at equipping students with both technical skills and ethical grounding.

According to the institute, the expansion is part of efforts to respond to Nigeria’s growing challenges, including youth unemployment, social instability and economic pressure, by producing graduates who are both professionally competent and morally grounded.

Ar-Rashad noted that over the past four decades, its alumni have gone on to work in various sectors of the economy, including healthcare, engineering, entrepreneurship and public service, reflecting its emphasis on blending faith-based education with modern skills.

The management said the institute has continued to expand its curriculum to include digital literacy, vocational entrepreneurship and civic leadership, while maintaining its core focus on Islamic moral education.

The management said the new complex represents a commitment to scaling its educational model to meet contemporary national needs.

“We have spent forty years demonstrating that Islamic education can produce citizens who contribute meaningfully to national development,” he said. “This new campus strengthens our capacity to combine moral formation with practical skills needed in today’s society.”

The institute has invited policymakers, traditional and religious leaders, education stakeholders and members of the media to attend the commissioning ceremony in January 2026.

Ar-Rashad Institute was established in 1983 by Sheikh Abdulganiy Sulaeman Tanimola. The institution is known for its Integrated Tri-Pillar Foundation, which blends Arabic language education, Islamic sciences, and modern academic and vocational training.
