Voting is progressing at Polling Units 007 and 008, Ward 8, located at Ezechima Primary School and St. Charles College in Onitsha North Local Government Area of Anambra State, even as allegations of vote buying by agents of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) emerge.
According to reports obtained by the Harbinger correspondent under the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID), voting commenced smoothly around 9:43 a.m., with a steady turnout of voters exercising their franchise under tight security presence.
Observers, however, alleged that APGA party agents were discreetly offering as much as ₦20,000 to voters in exchange for their support. Some residents were also seen loitering near the polling areas, reportedly waiting to identify which political party would provide the highest inducement.
Despite these allegations, electoral officials at both polling units maintained order and continued to oversee the voting process. Security operatives were positioned strategically to prevent disruption and ensure compliance with electoral guidelines.
As of the time of filing this report, the atmosphere at the polling units remained largely calm, though observers urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to intensify monitoring to deter electoral malpractice and preserve the credibility of the ongoing Anambra Governorship Election.
