Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Friday, inspected the ongoing road and flyover project in Osogbo, the state capital, expressing his satisfaction with the progress made so far.
Governor Adeleke, accompanied by national leaders of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) led by Engr. Margaret Oguntala, toured the Oke-Fia Flyover project. He urged the contractor to maintain the current pace to ensure the timely completion of the project.
At the Oke-Fia flyover site, Adeleke reiterated his commitment to delivering a modern capital city, noting that the contractor has demonstrated the capability to deliver quality roads and bridges. He assured that his administration would continue to support the project to ensure its successful completion.
“I am not a governor who just sits in the office. I have been monitoring the project from the Government House, but I had to come and see for myself because I am in a hurry to deliver,” Adeleke stated. “What they are doing here is a good job, in line with my campaign to deliver a good capital city. The contractor handling the project has shown that they are capable of delivering quality roads and bridges across the areas they are sited. I am satisfied with the quality of work being done.”
Earlier, while receiving the national leaders of the NSE at the Government House, Adeleke emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in facilitating economic growth and good governance. He expressed confidence in his technical team, comprising members of the engineering society, who are working tirelessly to deliver quality projects across the state.
“What you saw in Osogbo is just a glimpse. Construction is ongoing across the 30 local governments and area councils,” he said. “In 2023, I announced an ambitious infrastructure plan across various sectors. Many doubted our capacity to implement these projects. To the glory of God, we have proved critics wrong. We have shown that we have the will, the capacity, and the knowledge to achieve our goals. We are determined to take Osun to greater heights, and we have demonstrated strong passion to bridge the infrastructure gap in Osun State.”
During the tour, NSE President Engr. Margaret Oguntala commended the quality of work being done on Osun State’s infrastructure projects. She praised Governor Adeleke’s commitment to local content by employing Nigerian engineers to deliver the projects.
“There is no doubt that the quality of the work being done is of a high standard, and we are very impressed,” Oguntala said. “The Governor’s decision to engage local content and employ Nigerian engineers is a testament to his confidence in indigenous talent.”
