Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his dedication to transparency in governance and project implementation.
This statement came during a meeting with the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo.
Dr. Aliyu, accompanied by other management members of the anti-corruption agency, was in Osun State for the strategic signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on project monitoring and evaluation.
Governor Adeleke emphasized his administration’s zero tolerance for corruption, especially in the execution of the ongoing multi-billion naira infrastructure agenda.
He highlighted the financial discipline measures his government has implemented to fund these projects, including the creation of a project account, blocking revenue leakages, increasing internally generated revenue, reducing overhead costs, and deliberately saving from government earnings.
“Our government rolled out several initiatives to ensure financial discipline,” Adeleke stated. “We have turned Osun into a huge construction site, with all senatorial districts and local government areas benefiting from our projects. These are strictly supervised by professionals and align with our commitment to transparency.”
The Governor assured the ICPC Chairman of his selfless dedication to public service, ensuring that public funds and resources are judiciously applied. “During the inauguration of my cabinet, I made it clear that those with corrupt mindsets should opt out. We are enforcing a rigorous vetting process in financial approvals and partnering with the ICPC to deepen good governance,” Adeleke added.
ICPC Chairman Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu commended Governor Adeleke for his unwavering support and commitment to anti-corruption efforts. He emphasized that the collaboration with Osun State embodies a collective resolve to combat corruption and foster a culture of integrity and accountability.
“Our partnership is a historic step forward,” Dr. Aliyu stated. “We commit to a robust partnership focused on anti-corruption initiatives, public education, and activities designed to enhance integrity and accountability within Osun State. The fight against corruption requires the concerted efforts of all stakeholders, and our collaboration with the Osun State Government is a testament to this belief.”
The highlight of the event was the signing of the MoU between the state government and the ICPC.
Key officials, including the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewale Egbedun; Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye; commissioners, head of service, permanent secretaries, and officials from the Ministry of Justice were present.
