The leadership of the ACCORD Party has dismissed claims circulating on social media that its National Chairman, Mr. Maxwell Mgbudem, Esq., has been suspended, describing the reports as “false, baseless and politically motivated.”
The clarification was contained in a statement signed by the Osun State Chairman of ACCORD, Pastor Victor Akande, and issued through Hon. Oke Rotimi Michael, Spokesperson, Forum of State Chairmen of ACCORD (South West) and Chairman of the Ogun State chapter.
According to Hon. Oke, the reports were the handiwork of “self-styled political jobbers aligned with a rejected political party seeking relevance through misinformation.”
He explained that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), during its meeting held on December 3, 2025, unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Mr. Mgbudem and the entire National Working Committee.
“At no time was any disciplinary action taken against the National Chairman,” the statement noted. “ACCORD remains a law-abiding, constitutionally guided political party. No person can bring chaos among us through unfounded allegations.”
The party also addressed claims made by Prof. Chris Inumolen, a former Presidential Candidate, who has continued to issue statements purportedly on behalf of ACCORD. According to the statement, Prof. Inumolen was expelled from the party over multiple instances of anti-party behaviour.
The offences listed include attempts to assume leadership positions he was not entitled to, moves to hijack party structures, forceful intrusion into the National Secretariat in 2024, and persistent disregard for internal procedures.
“Given such a track record, it is comical that an expelled member still presumes to have authority within the party. All reports issued from his camp should be disregarded,” Hon. Oke said.
Speaking further, Pastor Akande also dismissed claims relating to the party’s governorship candidate in Osun State, affirming that Governor Ademola Adeleke is a duly recognised member of ACCORD.

Pastor Akande challenged rival political parties to “show what they have achieved with their candidates instead of spreading deceit online.”
“Elections are not conducted on social media platforms. Those serious about competing should demonstrate capacity. Osun State is ACCORD, and ACCORD is Osun State,” he said.
The party leaders collectively reaffirmed that ACCORD remains united, crisis-free, without factions, court cases or godfatherism, and guided strictly by its constitution and national laws.
“Our strength lies in internal democracy, discipline and unity,” Pastor Akande stated. “No amount of propaganda will change the fact that ACCORD is one of the most reliable political parties in Nigeria today.”
He urged members and the public to rely only on official party communications and disregard “the noise of disgruntled individuals seeking political survival.”
