Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has mourned the death of Adesoji Omosebi, Publisher of SOJ Worldwide Online News and a member of the Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA), describing his passing as a major loss to the state’s media community.
In a statement issued on Monday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the Governor said Omosebi played a significant role in strengthening online journalism in Osun, noting that his contributions “will never be forgotten.”
“The demise of Adesoji Omosebi is a huge loss to the media industry in Osun State,” the statement said. “His contributions to the growth and development of the online media sector, especially as pioneer Chairman of OOPA, will remain indelible.”
Governor Adeleke added that Omosebi’s work as a journalist and publisher helped deepen public discourse and support the state’s development efforts.
As part of the condolence message, the Governor directed the Osun Health Insurance Agency to explore the possibility of enrolling practising journalists in the state’s health insurance scheme. He described journalists as “essential stakeholders who deserve improved welfare and protection.”
“May God Almighty comfort his family and grant them the fortitude to bear this loss. SOJ will be missed greatly,” the statement concluded.
