Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has accused the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, of orchestrating plans to destabilize the state from Monday, February 17, 2025.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Adeleke alleged that Oyetola is behind efforts to enforce a court ruling that reinstated local government chairmen elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He further claimed that the minister is working with key security officials, including the Osun State Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), to create chaos.
“I am calling this press conference to alert both national and global audiences about a deliberate plot to create anarchy in Osun State,” Adeleke stated.
“This sinister agenda is being led by Minister Gboyega Oyetola in collaboration with the Osun State Commissioner of Police, the Director of DSS, and the State Commandant of the Civil Defence Corps.
“I trust that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as a democrat, upholds the rule of law and would not support any unconstitutional action leading to violence or bloodshed.
“However, I regret to inform Mr. President and the public that Mr. Gboyega Oyetola has finalized plans to cause disorder in Osun, using his influence to issue illegal directives to security operatives.”
Adeleke clarified that the dispute stems from an attempt to reinstate sacked council chairmen based on a court ruling that lacks an enforcement order.
“These officials were removed before I assumed office as governor, contrary to false claims that I dismissed them through an executive order,” he said.
The governor urged security agencies and the federal government to intervene and prevent any actions that could disrupt peace in the state.
