President Bola has officially approved the nomination of Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso as the new Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor for an initial 5-year term, pending Senate confirmation. 

The spokesperson, Chief Ajuei made this announcement in a press release on Friday, citing Section 8(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, which grants the President the authority to appoint the CBN Governor and four Deputy Governors, subject to Senate confirmation.

In line with this, the President also sanctioned the nomination of four new Deputy Governors for the CBN: Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Muhammad Dani Abdullahi Dattijo, Mr. Philip Iheazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello, all for a 5-year term, pending confirmation.

Furthermore, the President issued directives to the nominees, emphasizing the need to implement vital reforms within the CBN. These reforms are aimed at bolstering confidence among Nigerians and international partners, with the ultimate goal of restructuring the Nigerian economy for sustainable growth and prosperity.
