On Monday morning, a day after Christmas, the unfortunate death of a female lawyer, Bolanle Raheem, was announced on social media.
On Christmas Day, Raheem was tragically killed when a police officer named ASP Drambi Vandi shot at her car in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
According to report, Raheem, her sister, and four children were driving from a restaurant when the officer attempted to stop them around 11 a.m.
When the officer opened fire on Raheem’s vehicle, she was attempting to make a U-turn under the Ajah Bridge. The victim was reportedly struck by the bullet, and she was subsequently rushed to a hospital, where her death was confirmed.
The deceased lawyer’s seven most important facts are as follows:
1. Raheem was born on May 29 and is a Christian.
2. She had three children with Gbenga Raheem, the man she was married to. She attended Holy Child College in Ikoyi, Lagos State, for her secondary education.
4. She also studied at the Nigerian Law School in Enugu State and Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago Iwoye, both in Ogun State.
5. She was a property lawyer who belonged to the Lagos chapter of the Nigeria Bar Association.
6. Raheem was a real estate consultant, business coach, developer, and recipient of numerous awards.
7. She co-founded the real estate and property development company City Building and served as Croston Homes’ CEO.
The killing of Raheem has since been condemned by the police, and the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, tweeted on Monday that the incident was regrettable and could have been avoided. He disclosed that the aforementioned police officer and members of his team had been arrested and the case had been referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
In a similar vein, Usman Baba, the Inspector General of Police, has expressed his condolences for the murder and directed that all of the police officers involved be promptly investigated and brought to justice.
In addition, the Nigerian Bar Association has stated that it will ensure that Raheem receives justice and that the case will be closely monitored by the association to ensure that justice is served.
