Osun APC Rejects Court Order on Local Government Election, Calls It a ‘Joke Taken Too Far’

By Boluwatife Adedokun

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed a reported court injunction directing security agencies to supervise the local government election scheduled for February 22, 2025.

In a statement issued on Friday, APC Chairman Sooko Tajudeen Lawal described the injunction, allegedly granted by a state high court in Ilesa, as “fake and inglorious.” He argued that a lower court has no power to override a Court of Appeal judgment.

Lawal criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, alleging that it is being misled by individuals pushing a political agenda. He also expressed concerns about what he called an abuse of the judicial process.

The APC chairman urged security agencies to uphold the Court of Appeal’s February 10, 2025 ruling, which reinstated local government officials sacked by Adeleke in 2022.

He further claimed that there are no vacancies in the local councils to justify the election and described the process as a “PDP motion without movement.”

Lawal called on residents to boycott the election and urged security forces to maintain law and order.
